We have been brainstorming for quite some time behind the scenes on a private file sharing solution for our community, and Termer (https://github.com/termermc) decided to put in the work to build it (https://friendnet.org/)

Introducing FriendNet
FriendNet is self-hostable, open source file sharing for friends, like a mini-Soulseek. Unlike Soulseek and other P2P networks, port forwarding is optional!
<You can host a private room for your friends or group to share folders on their computers, create profiles, and search files.
>For those familiar with BitTorrent, hosting your own FriendNet server can be compared to owning a private tracker.

Become a member of our community to get access to all the resources we share. Or - host your own for you and your friends!

Come hang out in IRC if you are curious to join our server:

I'm wondering if I should use the rchan engine to build a imageboard project. I am brazillian, and I want to make a full brazillian Imageboard, and the only engine made by a brazillian I found was this one:

https://github.com/lainsec/rchan

This is a lain themed engine made with python and Flask

It uses Sqlite as default stack, but I will change to mongoDB. But I'm not sure if its secure. What do you guys think?

I'm planning to run this on a intel core i3 + 16gb ram and 250gb storage VPS.

do you have it up and running yet? what are your plans with the stream in the future? I used to run one of these Icecast stations for a small discord group back in 2017 and it was really fun. Iirc I ran it off an old netbook shoved under a desk with the screen ripped off.

What do you guys have in your general home DIY toolbox? Do you have any power tools?

Personally I use a Makita 18v system for a drill, impact driver and multitool. The multitool has been such more useful than expected.

 No.2

Just the basic tool set. Nothing fancy or expensive. I usually rent power tools when I need them but I have multiple drills and a concrete mixer. I have a bunch of different hammers and a pickaxe and a multitool.

 No.4

Screwdrivers, two soldering irons, a multimeter, and miscellaneous electronics junk like LEDs and various cables. Sadly they mostly collect dust.

 No.6

I have almost all the tools.
But the one I have most use of is my crowbar Tove.
Swedish steel, I love it so much.

Nails sticking out, no hammer needed; rip them out.
Boards in the way, craack em.
Problem in the kitchen? I solve easy.

The only other tools I actually recommend is a set of small screwdrivers with long slim shafts so you can get down into that 1.5inch+ deep hole for the last screw on your laptop.
You average bits+screwdriver set will not reach because shaft is too fat, just buy the screwdrivers in advance so you skip the headache when the time comes.

Careful in there though, they made the screw that way to keep your laptop safe from yourself.

yep
baremetal on a VPS
here is a bit more info about the site and its infra:

not sure what other features youre looking for but IMO its probably better to just go with upstream vichan as opposed to a site-specific fork, unless its a more generic fork (there are a few floating around but im not very familiar with them)

AFAIK even vichan devs suggest using other IB software for new sites, i only used vichan because im already familiar with it

the original arisuchan used this (see attached image)

yeah, vichan looks more easygoing, any idea how to get it centered? just css or php layout change?

 No.21

>>20
just basic CSS for something like that

poke around with devtools here to see how our layout works and you should be able to figure it out

You could probably use the more-popular ICECAST project to stream audio over HTTP.
I'd wager the vast majority of Internet radio stations either use IceCast or SHOUTCast serverside.
To compare the two: IceCast is FOSS and probably more featureful as far as customization is concerned.
Here's an FAQ page for setup: https://icecast.org/faq/
As for 0xfdb radio, it operates using a convoluted "duct-tapped" combination of ncmpcpp+mpd. MPD does offer http streaming ootb, even if it is a little ghetto. NCMPCPP then acts as the mpd client which allows you to configure playlists, switch/queue tracks on the fly, etc. This is all done via TUI in your shell, probably isolated and running in a tmux/screen pane, and thus resource usage is relatively minimal.
Hope that gives you at least a little bit to chew on!

BASICALLY: I found an archive of arisuchan while hunting for torrent music which eventually led me here and i decided 'hmmm.. i should become a codefag…' BUT the only experience ive had coding is highschool level html shit.
