i made some arisuchan.xyz stickers for myself and some friends

>they are extremely high quality transfer stickers and you can buy them directly from stickermule if you want:

https://www.stickermule.com/arisuchan

but, if you just buy 1 for yourself from stickermule its going to be _veryfucking_ expensive

if people show interest i am open to buying these in bulk and selling/shipping them directly to you meat popsicles for much cheaper (the price from stickermule goes down significantly for bulk orders)

post here if interested, and if the day comes that enough of you exist and want them ill update this post with how to buy etc

Making a thread because I'm curious if the admin is going to upgrade anything or if this is just a re-implementation of the original Arisuchan. If you are going to upgrade anything what do you plan on implementing next? Please add the option for users to choose to hide posts before this place grows to a point it's overrun with low-effort posters.

webp is cancer bring back git. if you're going to do a speedup with gifs then encode as avif instead, that's webp's successor

 No.55

the thread hiding JS has been modified to also allow hiding replies

i also added support for hiding posts in thread view and unified the storage for hidden posts across views

you can hide any post anywhere on the site now, and it will remain hidden anywhere else on the site it shows up unless you manually unhide it

i made a bunch of CSS changes recently as well as changes to some JS that has browser TTL set for 30 days (oopsies)

clear your browser cache for the site to see all the changes, otherwise wait 30 days for your browser to fetch the updated resources

 No.70

added mp4/webm support with inline expanding

also added embedding youtube videos

fixed backlink generation on /all/ overboard

and also fixed an issue with the captcha and quick-reply window where the page would reload if the captcha was activated in fixed post form before floating post form was triggered

uploaded files can now be a maximum of 30MB

Hi. I just saw that you've decided to kinda resurrect arisuchan and that you know your thing in terms of system administration.

Still, starting a board afresh is not really realistic nowadays.

How would you feel about just branching off arisuchan.jp data?

You've already grabbed the name so why stop there and not be a true successor? Sophia surely wouldn't mind.

I don't really know how `vichan` stores data but my guess would be simply as `*.json` / `*.html` files.

In that case, one could simply grab all the `*.html` files from `legacy.arisuchan.jp`, then reconstruct `*.json` files from `*.html` files (I could do that, for example).

What about the existing posts on this imageboard then? One could just prepend a few digits to them so that they don't conflict with the legacy arisuchan posts.

Say, arisuchan stopped at `id` < 4000.

you are here and posting though, arent you?

>How would you feel about just branching off arisuchan.jp data?

i had thought of "branching" their data when i first made this site and decided against it

off the top of my head, some of the issues i have with it are:
> there are boards there that dont exist here and i dont want them to exist here (like /ru/ for example, im not going to moderate that and neither are my people)

> i dont want the original sites admins/mods messages on my site (i cant realistically go through the old sites mod/admins posts to make sure they reflect the current sites ideals/rules/etc)

> same goes for discussion about the old site, a huge chunk of (if not all of) /q/ from arisuchan.jp would not make any sense being here

> its a decent chunk of data, although it is "normalized" that html was built via a slightly different website engine - theres always the possibility a "backwards" (from html to sql) migration process becomes painful - and if that happens, data normalization and testing could outweigh the benefit of migration in the first place (i dont personally see much benefit to begin with)

Ah, I see, cool.

I personally am more of an "internet researcher", i.e. I like sometimes to read archives, etc.

For me, it's perhaps akin to archeology as a science, etc. Discovering what was the spirit of a certain period of time.

I find posting new threads not as engaging as the journey of discovering the old stuff.

Anyway, it was an interesting discussion. 👍

i get part of what you're saying, our main site just isnt a good place for that

as an alternative, i went ahead and downloaded arisuchan.jp's archive and am now hosting a mirror of it on our domain

a link to our mirror of the archive has been added to the sites front page

additionally, i modified the mirrors front page to include boards that are not listed on .jp's archive (maybe there are some you didnt know about)

this way, if the original archive disappears one day it will still exist here

also an FYI since you seem like the archival type - i committed the entire 5.4gb mirror to cache - that way it loads as fast as possible via cloudflares global CDN, browsing or downloading it wont contribute to our server/network load whatsoever

> so, if you'd like your own local copy of the archive (and want to avoid hammering arisuchan.jp's server) you can download it from our global cache like this:

wget --mirror -p --convert-links -P . https://legacy.arisuchan.xyz/
